Kai Girard is an IFMGA certified mountain guide based in Jackson, Wyoming. After an adventurous childhood near Tahoe, Kai has spent time living and working in most of the western states and has guided across the world. Never done with the current season, and always looking forward to the next, he’s back and forth between skiing and climbing. 

While Alaska, Patagonia, Antarctica, and the Alps are all regular destinations, the craziest trip might have been buying a bamboo raft and floating down a river in central China. Big mountain expeditions, ski destinations, and climbing objectives are always highlighted by the folks he gets to share them with. 

Kai also founded Jackson Backcountry, a cottage manufacturer of lightweight backcountry rescue sleds. Strong enough to haul, and light enough to forget in your pack, they’re made in the US and help make it easier to have the right tools when you need them. 

He is supported by his wife and daughter, and fur baby Rue.
