Ultra light poles, with ergonomic grips love the feel of them when I’m skiing and or skinning up. It makes it easy to switch grip height while touring up on steep terrain. The extended handle top cap makes it super easy to flick your heel riser up or down and lock in your toe pieces while transitioning.
The only recommendation that I would bring up to the team would be to make one or both poles marked every 5 cm starting at the extended handle top side of the poles all the way to the basket with a line and the cm height mark so you can measure snow height, slab thickness or any other snow observations very rapidly in the field!
I'm on my second set of Wyeast, and the are the lightest poles I've ever had, which reduce swing weight and hand fatigue. The extra length always gets used as we ski in variable terrain all the time around here. Support is outstanding to boot!
The asthetically beautiful Bjarne Signature Wyeast Ski Poles work as great as they look. I gave them a workout for their first outing on a family hut trip near Vail Pass and they didn’t disappoint. I pulled a sled of gear plus my three year-old grandson — being able to dynamically change my grip location was a huge help! Their light weight made a difference, too. Love ‘em.
These poles are a great addition to my touring kit. They’re light, have a super functional multi-height grip, and perform in hand shear tests well. I’m loving them!
These poles make life so much better on the skin track and at the resort! Never do you have to deal with the frustration of your adjustable pole collapsing.
These poles are incredibly versatile. Backcountry, glades, groomers, moguls. Allows for grip adjustments based on your terrain. They’re gorgeous. I think I’m a lifer with these poles (Wyeast). Only comment is that I wish the colors stayed a bit more consistent.
Light weight, bombproof, all the features you’d need. Folkrm has nailed it. I have both the 125 and 135 cm poles. The 135 I take out on long tours with flat exits and approaches. The full strength design allows me to push out of the Teton park faster than those with adjustable poles. The 125cm I use for rappel lines and booting couloirs. A little smaller but still so versatile. Get some and experience life with a bit stick
Splitboarder. Usually get 60-70 backcountry days a season. Recently picked up a pair of last year's model in 145 cm. I really like them. I'm 6'2.5" and I had been wanting longer poles to help me have better/stronger posture, especially while touring in powder. These fit the bill, and my back is much happier and I look less cro-magnon in pictures now :). I've been out a few days on them, and don't think I'll be going back to my 135 collapsible poles (another brand). I would be interested to see the Folkrm collapsible version in a 145, but I rarely break my other ones down anyway. Also, I saw someone from the PNW mentioning an icing issue on one of the reviews. I have been out in single digit and negative single digit storm days now with no issue at all here in Colorado. Stoked all around!
I am really stoked on the Wy East Poles, this is the third set I have had and they rock. The extended grip makes it easy to adjust your hand position on the way up or down. Highly recommended!
I like the poles and the idea that I can grab it higher/lower depending on the angle of travel but I was out for a tour and it was snowing lightly and the snow in the PNW is of course WET. Poles were laying in the snow many times during the day as we stopped and eventually the material on the handles turned into an icicle and the ice was hard to scrape off. I’m bummed but I think I’d use these for clear sunny days mostly
Hey Kristina, sorry to see the poles ice up like that. We would recommend trying to keep the poles vertical during transitions vs down in the snow as that can greatly reduce snow build up. Also knocking the poles together can help dislodge the snow before they start icing. Finally you can alwys treat the grips with a little bit of Sno-Seal (leather waterproofer) to help further waterproof them.
These poles helped me upgrade across the board in confidence and skills. They’re so light and fun to swing around. Being able to switch hand positions frequently is key. I have two pairs and will never ski with a different pole most likely

It’s hard to get excited about ski poles but these did it. Super light, simple, versatile, easily my favorites now. I was a bit worried about skiing with such long poles (I got the 145s) but I couldn’t be happier. Seeing these more and more out there for good reason. Plus, they’re an Oregon company. Seven out of five stars.
After breaking three other baton-style poles over the last season from other manufacturers, I was keen to find one that was burly enough to survive heavy professional use. So far it has lived up to the hype!
Once they are in your hands your hands naturally go where the best angle of uphill attack is and even the very tops above the grip have specific design that you don't notice till it's just happening. Maximum uphill efficiency without needing to think about it.
These poles are super burly and dependable. I love the long grip for skiing the steeps. Make sure the next cornice you pole wack is with a Folkrm Wy’East pole.
These poles rock! They're super sturdy, lighter than my Atomic and Black Crows collapsible poles, and even more comfortable to use. I took them into the Aspen backcountry on a hut trip last week and they performed really well. I love that the lip on the top of the pole handle makes adjusting my binding risers really seamless. I highly recommend these for all of your skiing!

So stoked on my experience with these poles and the dudes at folkrm! I had broken a pair of poles per season before switching to Folkrm, but my new poles have lasted 3 full years of WILD abuse. I use them for for everything from resort skiing to hucking my meat down mountains in the backcountry. I’ve seriously had skis die in a crash and my poles survive. They were taken down only after being used as an anchor to downski some 5-bush madness. When I told the fellas at folkrm that my mighty steeds had hit the dust, they sent me a new pair!! I’ll never use another pole. Bonus: they are epic for tele skiing because you can easily choke up on the pole when you drop a knee.
I have been skiing with the Folkrm Wyeast Ski Poles for a few seasons now and I absolutely love them! As a full time mountain guide I use these poles for both work and play. I have used these poles for hundreds of days backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering, and even resort skiing. The hallmark of these poles is the extended foam grip which allows you to have a solid grip at any point higher or lower on the pole. However, there is a lot more than meets the eye with these PNW local ski poles!
The Folkrm Wyeast Ski Pole is not the only game in town when it comes to long grip ski poles. Having tried 4 different types of long grip poles, I can confidently say that the Folkrms are the best. The foam on the Folkrms doesn’t ice up like some competitors and it is also much more comfortable to hold because the bigger grooves require less gripping to hold while skinning uphill. One additional advantage of the big grooves in the foam grip is that it makes for a great “saw” when cutting a quick hand shear pit to test if a slope has windslabs or storm slabs. Other poles tend to have lower profile grooves and thus work much worse for cutting through wind hardened snow while on the move. Lastly, the aluminum used in the Folkrms does feel soft compared to similar poles, however, they sure seem to flex and return to straight quite well. Other poles get bent or break. These poles have survived many harsh crashes that I thought would bend or break them and they’re still as straight as an arrow and ready to keep on helping me get deep into the mountains and focus on what we all love. Skiing!
